Eden
In a social climate of debate towards an environmentally threatened world, I looked towards inspiration from a different world of uncertainties. In "The Day of the Tiffids" written by John Wyndham in 1951, a meteor shower causes aggressive plants to rise up and murder people. Although this story has been linked to a contrasting fear of the writer I linked this to our current situation with pollution and climate change. I proposed Eden Recoil as a role reversal of nature, in which we as a society are fighting off flora.
My collection takes visual cues from areas such as carnivorous plants, safety wear (eg:Ebola suits) and athleisure trends. This research led me to a distinct collection of six outfits, applying 3D printing, textile manipulation, digital printing and innovative pattern cutting.
